Nuestra oficina se encuentra en el interior de un antiguo horno de maderas finas que se utilizaban como materia prima para la construcción de las sillas Señal® de Don Shoemaker. Con el tiempo y la falta de producción, estos hornos quedaron obsoletos y abandonados, por lo que se nos ofreció la posibilidad de intervenirlos.

Nuestro principal interés era mantener intactos todos los motores y mecanismos que hacían funcionar el horno, para hacer un interior limpio, ausente, silencioso, casi mudo, que contrastara por su limpieza y claridad de líneas con todos aquellos elementos que generaban una fachada casi barroca.

Intentamos crear un oasis en medio de un complejo de fábricas que equilibrara este precario y decadente entorno con un interior que enfatizara su propia presencia por la ausencia de elementos. Esta idea del oasis sugirió el acabado que tendríamos en el piso: una superficie de arena de mar blanca.

Era un material poco común para una oficina; sin embargo, nos dio mucho gusto descubrir con el tiempo que la arena era una sorpresa inesperada para los visitantes, y hacía que todos los que trabajábamos allí nos moviéramos a un ritmo más lento y sereno.

Our office is situated inside an old oven that processed fine woods used as raw material to make Don Shoemaker's Señal® chairs. With time and the lack of production, these ovens became obsolete and abandoned, so we were offered the possibility to transform them.

Our main interest was to keep intact all the engines and mechanisms that made the oven work, to make a clean, absent, silent, almost mute interior that made a contrast, because of its cleanliness and clarity of lines, with all those elements that created an almost baroque facade.

We tried to create an oasis in the middle of a factory complex that would balance this precarious and decadent environment with an interior that would accentuate its own presence by its absence of elements. This idea of the oasis influenced the finishings to be used on the floor: a surface of white sea sand.

It was an unconventional material for an office; however, we were delighted to discover over time that the sand was an unexpected surprise for visitors, and it made all of us who worked there move at a slower, more relaxed pace.

对于办公室来说，这是非常规材料；然而，我们很高兴地发现，随着时间的推移，沙子对来访者来说是意想不到的惊喜，它使我们所有在那里工作的人以更慢、更轻松的速度前进。
