La casa AG fue nuestro primer proyecto en San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. Uno de los principales destinos turísticos de México, que fue declarado pueblo mágico en 2002 y fue inscrito por la UNESCO como patrimonio cultural de la humanidad en 2008. Dicha distinción fue otorgada por su aporte cultural y arquitectónico al barroco mexicano y por su importancia histórica en la lucha por la independencia de México. En 2017, también fue nombrado por la revista Travel & Leisure como la mejor ciudad del mundo por su calidad en el servicio, su amabilidad, gastronomía, limpieza, experiencia, y gran aportación cultural.

El terreno se encuentra en una urbanización a 25 minutos del centro histórico llamado La Presita por su cercanía a los humedales que forman un espejo de agua en época de lluvias. El inmueble se orienta a estos humedales y hacia una gran cadena montañosa que en ocasiones se ve interrumpida por el humo de un lejano tren de carga que pasa esporádicamente. La imagen que vimos cuando visitamos el terreno por primera vez fue sobrecogedora; nos conmovió y nos inspiró para volcar las vistas de la casa a esa escena en particular y a esa hermosa composición natural.

La topografía de este proyecto representó un reto en sí mismo, pero también una solución. El terreno presentaba una pendiente de 30 metros en la parte más larga; debido a esto y a un presupuesto muy ajustado, consideramos que la mejor solución era escalonar los espacios públicos y adaptarlos a las condiciones naturales del terreno. De esta manera, eliminamos los costos de construir una plataforma grande y única, y organizamos los espacios en gradas, lo que permitió disfrutar de las espectaculares vistas en todo momento desde todos los espacios públicos.

El reglamento interno de la urbanización solicitaba un porcentaje de losas inclinadas, por lo que consideramos hacer una cubierta de una sola agua inspirados en la arquitectura vernácula más elemental de la región: la casa de piedra con una sola cubierta inclinada de teja de barro.

AG house was our first project in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. One of the main tourist destinations in Mexico, which was declared a magical town in 2002 and was inscribed by UNESCO as a cultural heritage of humanity in 2008. This distinction was granted based on its cultural and architectural contribution to the Mexican baroque and its historical importance in the struggle for Mexican independence. In 2017, it was also named by Travel & Leisure magazine as the best city in the world for its quality of service, friendliness, gastronomy, cleanliness, experience, and great cultural contribution.

The property was located in a gated neighborhood, 25 minutes from the historic center, called La Presita for its proximity to wetlands that form a mirror of water in the rainy season. The real estate is oriented towards these wetlands and a large mountain range that is occasionally interrupted by the smoke of a distant freight train passing by. The image we saw when we first visited the site was overwhelming; it moved us and inspired us to turn the views of the house to that particular scene and that beautiful, natural composition.

The topography in this project represented a challenge per se but also a solution. The land had a 30-meter slope in the longest part; due to this and a very tight budget, we thought that the best solution was to stagger the public areas and adapt them to the natural conditions of the land. This way, we eliminated the costs of a single large platform, and we organized the spaces in tiers, which allowed us to enjoy the spectacular views from all public areas at all times.

The neighborhood’s own rules requested a certain maximum percentage of sloping slabs, so we thought of placing just a single water roof inspired by the most elementary vernacular architecture of the region: the stone house with a single inclined roof made of clay tile.

这样一来，我们就省去了大平台的费用，我们将空间组织成层，这使我们能够随时欣赏到所有公共区域的壮观景色。

该社区自己的规则要求斜板的最大百分比，所以我们想到只放置水屋顶，其灵感来自于该地区最基本的乡土建筑：石屋与粘土瓦的单一倾斜屋顶。
