Cuando comenzamos este proyecto, imaginamos un pequeño, apacible, y silencioso bosque de encinos rojos y cómo ese silencio se interrumpía por el viento que agitaba el follaje de los árboles, con el sonido de las pisadas sobre la madera, y con el vuelo de los pájaros que llegaban a sus nidos. El corazón de la casa seria este bosque; los habitantes tendrían varias opciones para llegar a los espacios cerrados, pero dispusimos algunos elementos arquitectónicos para enfatizar que el recorrido más interesante y rico era a través del nuevo bosque. Todos los volúmenes de la casa se organizarían en torno a este bosque, generando un patio que evocara la arquitectura de las casas de Morelia del siglo XVI. Los límites del patio los marcarían estos 4 volúmenes de la casa.

El primer volumen, el más grande, alberga la entrada de servicio, la bodega, la recámara de servicio, la alacena, la cocina, y la terraza; en el nivel superior le da lugar a una recámara de visitas y un estudio. Sobre este volumen, una caja flotante de granito negro conforma un segundo volumen que contiene la sala de televisión y tres recámaras. Debajo de esta caja, por su condición y posición, se encuentran la sala, el comedor, y la oficina, todos ellos abiertos y orientados hacia el bosque central.

El tercer volumen es un largo pasillo de acceso con una ventana igualmente larga que enmarca la presencia de los árboles y los efectos de la luz sobre ellos. El cuarto volumen contiene baños habilitados para los eventos que se celebran en el patio. Esta casa representa una obra difícil de entender desde la lejanía; requiere que alguien la habite y la recorra para percibir la fascinación que sentimos por el espacio, la geometría, la naturaleza, y los efectos de la luz sobre todos ellos.

When we first envisioned this house, we imagined a small, silent forest of red oaks and how that silence would be suddenly broken by the wind rustling the foliage on trees, by the sound of footsteps on the wood, and by the birds flying to reach their nests. This forest had to be nestled inside the patio; the guests would have several options to reach the inside spaces, but we arranged some architectural elements to make it clear that the most interesting and richest route was the new forest. All volumes of the house would be organized around this forest, streamlining a courtyard to evoke the architecture of Morelia’s sixteenth century homes. The courtyard limits would be defined by the 4 volumes that make up the house.

The first and largest volume accommodates the service entrance, storage room, service quarters, pantry, kitchen, and terrace, and it hosts a guest room and a study on the upper level. Resting atop, a floating box of black granite makes up a second volume with the TV lounge and three bedrooms. Below this box, due to its condition and position, are the living room, dining room, and office, all opening and oriented toward the central forest.

The third volume is a long access hall with an equally long window framing the trees and the play of light on them. The fourth volume consists of bathrooms made available for events held in the patio. This house represents a building that is difficult to understand from the distance; it requires someone to dwell in it and roam through it to perceive the fascination we felt for the space, geometry, nature, and the lighting above,

第一个也是最大的体量容纳了服务入口、储藏室、服务区、茶水间、厨房和露台，在上层设有客房和书房。在上面，一个黑色花岗岩的浮箱构成了第二个体量，其中有电视休息室和三间卧室。

在这个箱子下面，考虑到其条件和位置，是客厅、餐厅和办公室，都是开放式，并朝向中间的林地。

第三个体量是个长长的通道，有同样长的窗户，框住了树木和枝杈间的斑驳光影。第四部分由浴室组成，供在天井举行的活动使用。这栋房屋代表了一种难以从远处理解的建筑；它需要有人居住在其中，并在其中漫游，以感知我们对空间、几何、自然和上方的照明的特别迷恋。
